18 million Britons are struggeling so much with money, that they cannot afford to go on a summer holiday this year.
Nearly four in ten families has had so much trouble with the recession, that they can no longer afford to go on vacation.
The British resorts will also be hit hard because of the recession. Of those questioned, 39 percent said they will stay at home this summer.
Of those who are not going away at all and staying home, 90 percent answered that they would have gone on vacation in Britain.
The people that are able to pay for a vacation, answered that they would not use credit cards, but save up for it instead.
A combination of high influation, and no to low wage rising is also the reason so many people are dealing with money troubles.
Reaction:
Well that is not really nice. So much inflation and so little wage rise could cause a lot of problems on the long run. I wonder why a lot of Britons didn't think of this before, since the number have only risen slightly.
Four years ago 31 percent was not able to go on vacation, now it is 36 percent.
My opinion about this is that if you cannot pay for something, that is not a life neccesity, then you don't need to have it no matter what.
If they truly want to go on vacation, they could save up several years and go once in a while.
You cannot spend money that you don't have, so these people need to stop complaining.
How bad not going away might seem, at least they have free time to relax after a year of hard work and that should also be worth something.

I agree with this. Travelling every holiday is not necesarry if you could just stay home FOR FREE! People are really upset over nothing. In the UK are sure lots of fun activities to do.
BeantwoordenVerwijderenIt is nice to go to as much places you can, but you can also have a good time in your own place. All the things you do on vacation like swimming, sunbathing, sight-seeing etc. are also things that you can do where ever you are. And if people feel the need to go on vacation so badly, then maybe they could do it very good by saving up money to spend a month on an island:)
